  弑警案似乎是个插曲，但却作为了整篇的书名。案件虽然曲折但并不神秘，一系列巧合导致最终破案。作者以《弑警犯》作为书名似乎要表明瑞典警察的民众形象是如何被“杀死”的，如何被政治斗争、被无能的长官、被暴力执法等各种原因所毁坏。

  本书的研讨的问题仅仅看书名是相当庞大的，因此，第一章作者意在将本书中所讨论的中国画概念范围界定在明代以后，这样一来作者不仅在一定程度上规避了“中国”政治概念的形成，同时，明清以来也是作者一直以来的重点研究时期。除此之外，作者对“绘画”的界定，实际上是指元绘画，为强调创作者本身对绘画艺术自身的认知。也就是说，当绘画主体认识到绘画的独立性时，本文讨论的“画”才成立。因此，也就形成了不同身份主体在不同时代对绘画的不同认识。 文中多次提到“画中画”，也是因为画中之画被认定为元绘画的原因。值得注意的是，作者与巫鸿，米歇尔的关系密切，文中多次提到他们的观点，并且作者大量使用了巫鸿在重屏一文中的材料。 遗憾的是文中的第二章以后的讨论大多不够深入，结论不甚清晰，旧材料的使用未能出新意，依旧是延续巫鸿的思路。尽管不少小细节还是很有趣，但整体上依然是平庸之作。
