  实际上是以二弟理查德·莱恩为核心的传记。作者屁股有点歪，狂黑大哥艾伦·莱恩，估计是因为作者是个澳大利亚人，而理查德在青年和中年时期都在澳大利亚有过一段重要经历。

  作者文笔不好，叙述太过平庸。南大社这本编校质量比较低，也没引入参考文献，诸多信息无法核实。

  本以为是个出版业的激情创业传说，没想到原来讲的是阶级固化的社会现实。

  我是戈弋，微臣教育的GRE词汇、填空教师，《GRE核心词汇考法精析（第2版）》的作者之一。

  2011年9月，大二的我开始准备GRE考试，当时选择的词汇书就是《新GRE核心词汇考法精析》，也就是“再要你命3000”。作为备考者，当时给我的感觉就是3000里面的单词好难。对于四、六级基础都不扎实的我，背起来太痛苦了。当时备考的乐趣之一，就是和同学一起开脑洞，比如labyrinthine 复杂的，我就会联想这个词本身长得就很复杂，所以意思是“复杂的”；比如morbid，可以谐音记成“毛病的”，所以就是“病态的”和“变态的”。虽然说不好记，但不得不说，

  因为3000精准的解释，让我在备考过程里减轻了太多的负担

  。比如我不用记agoraphobia这种中文都看不懂的单词，我也不会把insular记成“岛国性格的”，而是记成“狭隘的”。

  2014年3月，大四还没毕业的我选择了到目前为止的第一份工作，去微臣当老师。当时我教的科目是GRE词汇。在2014年-2015年的线下325班级课堂上，我一遍又一遍地带着同学们刷3000里面的单词，告诉他们每个词怎么考，怎么记。通过这种方式，我把第1版的“再要你命3000”刷了30遍。

  2016年4月，

  微臣创立2周年，刷了很多题，考了很多次试的我们

  ，决定对3000做一次新的调整和修订，这一次主要的修订任务交给我了。这一次的主要调整有4各方面：

  （1) 3000中有的单词出现的频率太低，“小溪”、“花名册”其实没有必要记忆；

  （2）3000中有的单词考法太多，光abandon就有4个释义，记忆起来太过繁琐；

  （3）3000中有的单词释义可以更通俗易懂，“利他主义”就没有“雷锋，无私”来的容易理解；

  （4）3000中优秀的例句却无人问津，导致背了GRE词汇，都是孤独的树木却不能组成森林。

  当时每天的主要任务就是拿着铅笔，把3000里面的低频单词和考法标记出来，然后交给琦叔审阅。琦叔通过之后，我会在近2年考试的真题中选取一些高频单词做替换。相比于上一版，我们共替换201个单词词条，删除272个单词词条，合并大量单词考法，精简了60页篇幅，例句部分也变成了简短的小语境，方便记忆和学习。

  此外，针对GRE考试的填空部分，我们为同学们整理了GRE考试中的常见

  “方程等号”（逻辑关系指示词）

  ，在书籍目录之前，其中的词汇在考试中出现的频率甚至要高于本书的主词条，这张词表我们命名为
